Implant Restorative Dentistry” 3-Day Lecture and Hands On-Course

Our very own Dr. Eric Beckman is in Arizona at the Spear Education Implant Restorative Dentistry 3-day lecture and hands on-course along with 300 other dentists from around the US. Periodontal Associates – The Dental Implant Team locally hosts a monthly Spear Education study club which “combines hands-on learning in small groups of peers is a proven way to master new clinical skills and build confidence” (speareducation.com). The doctors at Periodontal Associates believe in providing the best care for their patients. One of the ways the doctors do this is through the Spear Education study clubs to stay on the forefront of periodontics.

Meet Amy, Assistant at Periodontal Associates – The Dental Implant Team

What made you want to become an assistant?
I always enjoyed going to the dentist growing up. My oldest sister talked with me about dentistry, and I looked into it and what it entailed. I shadowed my family dental office and thought it would be an exciting atmosphere to work in.

When did you start working at Periodontal Associates? What’s your favorite part about working here?
I started working at Periodontal Associates March of 2016. My favorite part is the relationships I build with patients and co-workers. Additionally, I really enjoy learning more about periodontics and the surgical procedures involved.

What’s your favorite part of being an assistant?
Helping the patients feel comfortable. I also love being part of a team. I really enjoy working with the doctors here by making sure they have the tools they need, which in turn assists in achieving a great outcome for our patients.

What doctor do you usually work with? What is your favorite part about working with them?
I mainly work with Dr. Beckman and I am starting to work more with Dr. Heller. I enjoy learning from them and listening to them explain the treatment to the patient. Dr. Beckman is serious but comforting to patients. On the other hand Dr Heller uses his great sense of humor to calm the patient.

What do you think makes Periodontal Associates stand out from other Periodontal offices?
I think there are a multitude of things that make Periodontal Associates stand out. To name a few: the patient care, communication internally as well as with the patients and their referring doctors, and the continuing education that the Drs. participate in as well as teach.

Meet Dr. Kenneth Versman, Periodontist at Periodontal Associates – The Dental Implant Team

What made you want to become a dentist?
I have wanted to be a dentist since 5th grade. As time progressed during my high school and college years I felt it would be a great profession where I would have the chance to interact with people and help them with their oral health.

What made you want to specialize in periodontics?
I had a periodontal professor who gave me great encouragement to become a periodontist. It was my favorite course in dental school.

What’s your favorite part of being a Periodontist?
Helping people achieve oral health through complete evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment planning.

Are you originally from Colorado and what’s your favorite part about living here?
I grew up in Illinois. I love just about everything in Colorado… the people, weather, recreation, sports and culture offered in our community.

What do you think makes Periodontal Associates stand out from other Periodontal offices?
We have always been dedicated to taking care of people just as we would want to be healed. Our open communications allow us to not only help our patients, but to get to know them on a special level.

Meet Melissa, Assistant at Periodontal Associates

What made you want to become a dental assistant?
I originally didn’t intend to be a dental assistant. Initially it was a job while I was finishing up my degree in journalism. I ended up falling in love with assisting and chose to stay in that field. I have now been a dental assistant for 13 years.

When did you start working at Periodontal Associates? What’s your favorite part about working here?
I started at Periodontal Associates in September of 2015. My favorite part about working here is assisting with surgeries.

What’s your favorite part of being an assistant?
My favorite part of being an assistant is helping with surgeries. We have three amazing periodontists here, and I love watching them perform surgeries. I truly admire their abilities. Additionally, I love meeting and helping people. Everyone has a story and I enjoy getting to know all of our patients. They are always so grateful.

What doctor do you usually work with? What is your favorite part about working with them?
I work with Dr. Beckman the most. I enjoy working with Dr. Beckman because he is very good at what he does. Not only is he an amazing surgeon, he is an impressive health care provider. Dr. Beckman genuinely cares about his patients, and in turn his patients trust and respect him.

What do you think makes Periodontal Associates stand out from other periodontal offices?
Periodontal Associates stands out from other periodontal offices because of two reasons: this office has a very friendly and caring staff who works together as a team and this office boasts three experienced, highly skilled periodontists who take great pride in their work. All our doctors honestly care about all their patients

Correct way to floss around a dental implant #tuesdaytip

If you have dental implants make sure you are flossing around it correctly. To removed excess bacteria, plaque and debris from dental implants, pull the floss inwards towards the post of the implant and use a back and forth sawing motion instead of an up and down movement.

This #tuesdaytip has been provided by one of our licensed dental hygienist at Periodontal Associates – The Dental Implant Team. Drs. Versman, Heller, and Beckman in Aurora, CO are proud to be serving Denver and the surrounding communities for over forty years.

Periodontal Associates Doctors Participate in Frank Spear Study Club

Frank Spear Study club was started by Dr. Frank Spear. Dr. Spear co-founded Creating Restorative Excellence, a didactic and clinical education foundation. He became an affiliate professor in Graduate Prosthodontics at the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1984. Dr. Spear was part of twenty-five year interdisciplinary alliance with orthodontist Dr. Vincent Kokich and periodontist Dr. David Mathews. The three have traveled the world together lecturing on interdisciplinary dentistry. The Mission of Spear Education is to “strive for new ways to bring exceptional continuing education to dentists, through a comprehensive curriculum and a faculty who inspire doctors to grow beyond what they thought possible.”

Periodontal Associates – The Dental Implant Team leads a Frank Spear Study Club twice a month. This study club consists of local dentists in the Denver-Metro Area who meet up to collaborate and discuss real dental cases. Every Spear case encompasses different specialties of dentistry. The Periodontal Associates study club includes Denver area general dentists, endodontists, orthodontists, and periodontists.

Dental continuing education, like Frank Spear Study Club, ensures that Drs. Versman, Heller, and Beckman are informed about major changes in the dental and periodontal industry. The dental industry (specifically periodontics) can undergo major changes within a short period of time. Periodontists that do not participate in continuing education find it difficult to keep informed about the latest developments in the industry.

At Periodontal Associates – The Dental Implant Team we believe in partnering with our patients to achieve optimal health through personalized and collaborative care. Participating in continuing education like Frank Spear assists in serving our patients to the best of our ability. Frank Spear Study Club assists in offering our patients the latest diagnostic, preventive, and treatment methods in the industry.
